| biography:
| Composer, born in Chartres, NC France. He abandoned St Cyr military academy for music, and destroyed his first compositions before meeting Franck in 1868. He introduced the taste for chamber music, and his works include Quintet for piano and strings op.1, Sonata for piano and violin op.6 (1868, dedicated to the son of Alkan), music for piano Pensées Fugitives, and various melodies. In 1871 he co-founded the Société Nationale de Musique. |
