| Critic, novelist, and poet, born in Paris, France. Son of a caricaturist, he became editor of Charivari in 1890. His first poetry was La Flamme et les cendres (1909), and later collections include Les Carnets d'un dragon dans la tranchée (1918), on the war. He recalled his childhood in Temps Innocents (1920), and was awarded the Prix du Roman for Aricie Brûn ou les vertus bourgeoises (1924). Later works include Les Roses de Bratislava (1947). He was a member of the Académie Française. |
