| biography:
| French general, born in Condiac, S France. During the Seven Years' War he took command of the French troops in Canada (1756), and captured the British post of Oswego and Fort William Henry. In 1758 he defended Ticonderoga, and proceeded to the defence of Quebec, where he died in the battle against General Wolfe on the Plains of Abraham. |
