| biography:
| Fashion designer, born in Naples, SW Italy. He studied in Italy and the USA, gaining a doctorate in political science in 1941. A member of the Italian ski team (1934), in 1947 he was photographed wearing ski clothes he had designed. He then began to create and sell clothes for women, opening his couture house in 1950, and becoming famous for his use of bold patterns and brilliant colour. He became a member of the Italian parliament in 1965. |
