| biography:
| Aristocrat, born in Versailles, NC France, the second son of Charles X. During the Revolution and empire (1789–1815) he lived in exile, but in 1814 returned to France. In 1815 he was appointed commander of the troops in and around Paris, and in 1816 married Caroline Ferdinande Louise (1798–1870), the eldest daughter of Francis, afterwards King of the Two Sicilies. He was assassinated by the Bonapartist fanatic Pierre Louis Louvel in front of the Opéra. |
