| biography:
| French writer, the daughter of the governor of Moscow. She married the fickle Eugène de Ségur, the grandson of a French ambassador to Russia. She wrote successful works for children which make for interesting re-reading in the light of psychoanalysis; she can be found in them under her first name and under Rugés (an anagram of Ségur). Notable books include Les petites Filles modèles (1858), Mémoires d'un Âne (1860), Les deux Nigauds (1862), Les Malheurs de Sophie (1864), Le général Dourakine (1864), and Un bon petit Diable (1865). |
