| biography:
| Writer, born in Frankfurt, WC Germany, the daughter of the French emigré Comte de Flavigny. She was educated at a convent in Paris. She married Comte d'Agoult in 1827, but in 1834 left him for Franz Liszt, by whom she had three daughters; the youngest, Cosima, married first Hans von Bülow, and later Wagner. A close friend of George Sand, she held a famous salon in Paris, and wrote on numerous subjects. |
