| Philosopher and politician, born in Chambéry, SE France. He endorsed a concept of the divine right of the monarchy and was opposed to all liberal and democratic thought. During the Revolution he moved to Switzerland and later became a diplomat for Victor Emmanuel, King of Sardinia. His works include Considérations sur la France (1769) and Du pape (1819). |
