| Soprano, born in Zagreb, Croatia. She studied in Zagreb, Prague, and New York City, made her debut as Leonora in Il Trovatore (1927), and became principal soprano with the Zagreb Opera (1928–35). In 1937 she sang in Verdi's Requiem at the Salzburg Festival under Toscanini, and appeared in Il Trovatore at the New York Metropolitan Opera. |
