| French sculptor, painter, and art critic. He took part in the first Impressionist exhibition and was one of the first to recognize and promote the talents of Pissarro, Monet, and Manet. He features in paintings by Fantin-Latour, Bazille, and Manet. His most popular sculpture, ‘The Mask Pedlar’ (1883), is in the Luxembourg Gardens. |
