| biography:
| Mezzo-soprano, born in Sydney, New South Wales, SE Australia. She attended the New South Wales Conservatory, then studied in London, where in 1961 she won the Kathleen Ferrier Prize. She made her operatic debut in 1964 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where she has since been resident artist. A guest member of the Cologne Opera since 1969, and guest artist with the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Chicago, Paris, and Australian opera companies, she is noted for her Octavian in Strauss's Rosenkavalier, and for her Wagnerian roles. |
