| biography:
| Painter, born in Nice, SE France. With no formal training, he became leader of the post-war European neo-Dada movement. His work was unorthodox and not well received in his lifetime. He produced monochrome canvases, usually in blue, and action paintings such as ‘Anthropométries’, involving nude girls painted blue being dragged across canvases. His works include ‘IKB 79’ (c.1959, Tate, London). |
