| Judo fighter, born in Kyushu, S Japan. He won nine consecutive Japanese titles (1977–85), the Olympic open class gold medal (1984), and four world titles: 1979, 1981, 1983, (over 95 kg class), and 1981 (open class). He retired in 1985 after 203 consecutive bouts without defeat from 1977. |
