| French tennis player of Cameroonian origin, discovered by Arthur Ashe on an African tournament at the time. After training in France, he won Roland-Garros in 1983. His exciting style of play and appearance guaranteed interest for the spectators. He won 23 tournaments, was twice winner of the Davies Cup (1991, 1996), and captained the French team which won the Federation Cup in 1997. He retired as manager of the French national team in 1998, after their defeat of the Israeli team. |
