| Japanese poet. A minor official at the imperial court, he seems to have kept his position largely through his poetic ability. He is known as one of the ‘twin stars’ - Hitomaro being the other - of the great anthology of classical Japanese poetry called the Manyoshu (Collection of a Myriad Leaves). |
