| biography:
| Poet, born in Szechwan Province, China. Possibly of Turkish origin, he grew up in Sichuan, later moving to the Tang court of Xuanzong where he led a dissipated life. He later joined a wandering band calling themselves ‘The Eight Immortals of the Wine Cup’. Regarded as the greatest poet of China, he wrote over 1000 imaginative and rhapsodic free-style poems about wine, women, and nature. It is believed that he was drowned while trying to pluck the Moon from a lake. |
