| Pianist and composer, born near Poznan, WC Poland (formerly Posen, Prussia). In 1881 he started a music school in Berlin, and spent the years 1891–98 in New York City directing the Scharwenka Music School. He composed symphonies, piano concertos, and Polish dances. |
