| Painter, born in Greenock, Inverclyde, WC Scotland, UK. He studied at Belfast College of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools. After World War 2 he taught at Bath Academy of Art (1946–56). He visited Canada and New York in 1953, meeting Jackson Pollock and other leading Abstract Expressionists. His preferred subject was still-life, painted in a simplified, nearly abstract way. |
