| Cricketer, born in Norfolk, E England, UK. He played in 39 Tests, and in 1938 became one of a handful of players to have scored 1000 runs before the end of May. With Compton he shared a record third-wicket Test partnership of 370 against South Africa at Lord's in 1947. |
