| biography:
| Poet and writer, born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, USA. He studied at Geneva College, Pennsylvania (1943–4, 1946) and the University of Iowa (1949 BA; 1951 MA; 1953 MA), and went on to teach at many institutions, notably the University of Delaware (1980). Based in Erieville, NY, he published translations, critical essays, and a play, but is best known for his first volume of personal poetry, Heart's Needle (1959). |
