| Anatomist and physiologist, born in Jena, EC Germany. He studied at Jena, Berlin, and Strasbourg, and became professor at Wrocław, Poland (formerly Breslau, Prussia) (1886)), Innsbruck (1889), and Halle (1895). He was one of the first to do extensive practical and theoretical work in experimental embryology (his Entwicklungsmechanik, or developmental mechanics). |
