| German politician, born in Cologne, W Germany. He was a member of the Reichstag (1910–18, 1920–32) and became chairman of Zentrum, the Catholic Centre Party. The German currency stabilized during his first tenure of office as Reichskanzler (1923–4, 1926–8). He also served as minister of justice in 1926. |
