| biography:
| Writer, born in Puerto Cabello, N Venezuela. A friend of Oskar Loerke, he was a teacher whose prose was largely concerned with his experiences in the classroom and with life in a small town, as in Der Bilderstörmer (1917) and Weingott (1921). His poetry, which sets him apart as one of the most significant and influential German poets of modern times in its technical skill and richness of imagery, explores the relationship between man and nature. |
