| biography:
| Children's writer, born in Pepin, Wisconsin, USA. She edited a rural magazine for many years, and when she was in her 60s her daughter suggested that she write down her childhood memories of the American West. The result was a series of successful books which were popularized as the Little House on the Prairie television series in the 1970s. Her titles included Little House in the Big Woods (1932), By the Shores of Silver Lake (1939), and These Happy Golden Years (1943). |
