| Agricultural chemist and educator, born in Johnsburg, New York, USA. He was professor of chemistry at Wesleyan University (1873–1907) and directed the first agricultural experimental station in Middletown, CT (1875–7). He was involved in fertilizer testing as well as the investigation of nutritional and calorimetric standards. |
