| Writer and literary historian, born in Gießen, Germany. He emigrated to Latin America in 1939 and taught at the University of Montevideo before returning to Europe and settling in Switzerland in 1958. He wrote essays, formal nature and love poetry, and trenchant prose in both German and Spanish. These include the poetic works Das ewige Du (1939), Tröstung (1951), Wenn ich Staub bin (1956), and Ausgewählte Lyrik aus 3 Jahrzehnten (1958). Prose works include Der Pudel der Frau Barboni (1944) and Blüte am Abgrund (1951, 1961). |
