| Anthropologist, born in Marion, Indiana, USA. He studied at the University of Chicago, and became a staff specialist in Andean archaeology at the American Museum of Natural History in the 1930s. He led a number of expeditions and published many important reports of his excavations, including The Tarahumara (1935). After 1940 he taught at Yale. |
