| biography:
| Furniture maker, born in Emporia, Kansas, USA. He studied at the University of Kansas, where he gained a MFA (1961) in sculpture. He developed a method of laminating wood to make organic-shaped furniture, and in 1970 began a production line to make limited editions of his designs. He went on to explore more traditional styles using exotic woods and pieces with illusionistic carvings, and established the Wendell Castle Workshop in 1980. |
