| Foreign correspondent, born near Pokagon, Michigan, USA. His reports from Mexico during the Pancho Villa crisis helped gain him a lifelong job with the United Press (from 1916). A World War 1 correspondent, he became general manager for European news in the crucial years preceding World War 2. His book I Have Found No Peace (1936) expressed disillusionment with modern technology and politics. |
