| biography:
| Dancer and choreographer, born in Plymouth, Devon, SW England, UK. He joined the Royal Ballet School at 12, and graduated in 1966. Promoted to principal dancer in 1973, his small stature, extrovert personality, and technical prowess landed him choice roles in such ballets as Frederick Ashton's A Month in the Country (1976) and Kenneth MacMillan's Manon (1974). His talents extend to the musical stage, cinema, and television. He appeared as ‘Squirrel Nutkin’ and one of the ‘Bad Mice’ in the 1971 film Tales of Beatrix Potter, and was in the original production of Cats (1981). In 1980 he formed his own touring group, Dash, and later adapted The Hot Shoe Show (1983–4) into a fast-paced, live revue. |
