| Writer, born in Berlin, Germany. He began writing Expressionist poetry, which was published in the periodical Der Sturm, and soon became a follower of Dadaism. He founded the Politisches Cabaret in Berlin, for which he wrote political chansons. His play Der Kaufmann von Berlin (1929) is anti-Fascist and caused a scandal. He went into exile during World War 2, and his major prose work Die Verlorene Bibliothek appeared in 1951. |
