| Poet, novelist, and critic, born in Melbourne, Victoria, SE Australia. He studied there and at Munich and Vienna. He published The Dark Fire (1918), The Landscape of Cytherea (1923), and other volumes of poetry. His other writings include studies of Beethoven, Mozart, and Wagner, a play The Man Who Ate the Popomack (1922), and novels including The Aesthetes (1927) and The Duchess of Popocatepetl (1939). |
