| biography:
| Architect and town planner, born in Maywood, Illinois, USA. He studied at Illinois State University. In 1912 he won an international competition for the design of the new federal capital of Australia, Canberra, and went to Australia to supervise construction. He remained there, designing a number of notable buildings and the eccentric Castlecrag estate in N Sydney. In 1935 he went to India following an invitation to design a library for Lucknow University, and died there two years later. |
