| Writer, born in Laren, EC Netherlands. His first work Het limonadegevoel en andere verhalen (1985, The Lemonade Feeling and Other Stories) received instant critical acclaim. Equally successful were later works dealing with budding sexuality in the perception of young women addressing such motives as fear, shame, and powerlessness, including the novel Een warme rug (1987, A Warm Back), in which a young woman reminisces about her adolescence. She also wrote the theatre play Weiger nooit een dans (1996, Never Refuse a Dance). |
