| biography:
| Writer, born in Dresden, E Germany. After working as a mining machinist and studying philosophy, he was employed with the Berliner Ensemble and later the Deutsches Theater in East Berlin. His early works, such as the play Kipper Paul Bauch (1966) and poems Provokation für mich (1965), Kriegserklärung (1967), and Gegen die symmetrische Welt (1974), conform to the prevailing German Democratic Republic system and recall in their aggressive language Brecht and Mayakowsky. Later poems, such as Langsamer knirschender Morgen (1987), evince a certain alienation from his times, at least in a literary sense. He attracted attention for his narrative Unvollendete Geschichte (1977) and Hinze-Kunze-Roman (1985), and with Verheerende Folgen mangelnden Anscheins innerbetrieblicher Demokratie (1988) he returns to socio-political problems. |
