| Educationist, born at Feltre, NE Italy. He studied and taught at Padua, and in 1423 was summoned to Mantua as tutor to the children of the Marchese Gonzaga. There he founded a school for both rich and poor children (1425), in which he devised new methods of instruction, introducing a wide curriculum, and integrating the development of mind and body through the study of the Classics and Christianity. |
