| Writer, born in Acri, Calabria, S Italy. A liberal clergyman, he was involved in the 1848 risings in Calabria, and founded and edited the democratic weekly Il Bruzio (1864–5) where he reported the pitiful condition of Calabrian peasants. He wrote poems in the style of Byron, Il monastero di Sambucina (1842) and Valentino (1845), and the play Antonello capobrigante calabrese (1864). |
