| Astrophysicist, born in Armenia. He studied at the University of Leningrad, was professor of astrophysics there (1934–43) and at Erevan, and founded the Byurakan Astronomical Observatory. He devised and developed theories of young star clusters, and devised a method for computing the mass ejected from nova stars. |
