| Playwright, historian, and poet, born in Játiva, E Spain. A melodramatic novelist in the tradition of Dumas, he wrote El encubierto de Valencia (1852) and the voluminous but unreliable Historia de la ciudad y reino de Valencia (3 vols, 1845). His Obras poéticas appeared in two volumes: Poesías históricas y caballerescas (1850) and Poesías líricas y dramáticas (1851). A broader selection of his work is to be found in Obras literarias selectas (1880). |
