| Poet, critic, and translator, born in Moscow, Russia. He wrote The Fiery Angel (1908). He was one of the leaders of the Russian Symbolist movement which looked to France for its inspiration, and he translated many of the major Modernist writers in Europe. He became an enthusiastic Bolshevik in 1917. |
