| biography:
| Poet and critic, born in London, UK. He studied at Oxford, and became a hack writer of reviews, critical studies, and topographical works. Not until 1914, encouraged by Robert Frost, did he realize his potential as a poet, writing most of his work during active service between 1915 and his death. He died in action at Arras, just before the publication of Poems (1917), under his pseudonym. He also wrote a novel, and several books about the English countryside. |
