| Playwright, born in Tuam, Co Galway, W Ireland. His first play, A Whistle in the Dark, was produced in England in 1961, and from then until 1970 he lived and wrote in London. His major works date from his return to Ireland, and include The Sanctuary Lamp (1975), The Blue Macushla (1980), The Gigli Concert (1983), and Bailegangáire (1985). |
