| Naturalist, born in Poole, Dorset, S England, UK. A dental surgeon at Guy's Hospital (1817–61), he lectured in and became professor of zoology at King's College, London, in 1836. His British Stalk-eyed Crustacea (1853) remains a standard work on British crabs and lobsters. |
