| biography:
| Printmaker, born in Yekaterinburg, Ukraine. She studied at the Dresden Academy of Arts and Crafts, Germany, and settled in France (1931). She and her husband, Maurice, escaped from the Nazis by walking across the Pyrenees to Italy; from there they emigrated to New York City (1943). She founded the Universal Limited Art Editions workshop in East Islip, Long Island (1957), and encouraged several leading New York School artists to take up printmaking. |
