| biography:
| Poet, born near Nanchang, SEC China. He served as a magistrate, but left the office for a life of poverty as a small-holder, devoting himself to the world of nature. His poems describe the hardship of cottage-life, but he also wrote many on wine (especially ‘Fifth Poem on Drinking’) and chrysanthemums as epitomizing harmony in nature. He also (innovatively) wrote short stories, notably ‘Peach Blossom Paradise’ (trans title). |
