| biography:
| Leader of the Indian Mutiny (1857), a rebel from Gwalior. He was Nana Sahib's lieutenant in the Mutiny, and took part in the massacre of the British at Cawnpore (1857). With the Rani of Jhansi (1858) he occupied Gwalior, then held the field after his chief had fled. He was captured in 1859, and executed. |
