| Painter of the Sienese school. Most of his early work was in Pisa, where he was responsible for the frescoes of Paradise and Hell in the Cathedral, and for paintings in the Palazzo Publico. He was also active in Siena, San Gimignano, Perugia, and Volterra. ‘Descent of the Holy Ghost’ in the Church of San Agostino at Perugia is his masterpiece, but he was usually more successful in his smaller pictures. |
