| biography:
| Film actor, director, and writer, born in New York City, USA. He studied drama at the University of Miami, and suddenly became known through the success of his first film Rocky (1976, 2 Oscars), which he also wrote. Later films established him as an action-film hero, notably the Rocky sequels (1979, 1982, 1985, 1990), First Blood (1981), Rambo and its sequels (1985, 1988), whose title added a word to the language, and Cliffhanger (1992). Other films include Assassins (1995), Judge Dredd (1995), Daylight (1996), The Hunter (1997), and Get Carter (2000). He wrote and directed the Rocky sequels, Paradise Alley (1978), and Staying Alive (1983, which he also produced), and has written the screenplays for several of his other films. |
