| Art historian, born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. She studied at Radcliffe (1957 BA), and Harvard (1965 PhD). She taught at several institutions, notably the University of California, Berkeley (1962), and was a consultant to National Public Radio and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Her speciality was 17th-c Dutch art. |
