| Dancer and choreographer, born in Nutley, New Jersey, USA. He was studying medicine at college when a chance visit to a dance class changed the course of his life. He trained in contact improvisation with Steve Paxton and also with such leading modern dance experimentalists as Yvonne Rainer and Trisha Brown.
